Irwin Pitcher was named chairman of the Snohomish County Selective Service Board at its 1954 reorganization meeting. Clyde W. Brokaw, a Stanwood banker who was named to succeed the late Whit Clark of Monroe, and Frank Nickerson of Snohomish were the other board members.
Carrying the story of the importance of the March of Dimes to organizations in Everett was Moe Michelson, a member of the polio drive staff headed by Harold Patchett.
Tom Tuefel, president of Tuefel Nursery Inc., announced the awarding of a $169,000 contract to Olympic Contractors for construction of a 12,000-square-foot steel warehouse at 134th Street SW in Everett near the company’s nursery. Consulting engineer was Harvey R. Dodd and Associates Inc. Completion was set for February.
Guest speaker for the January meeting of the Everett Association of Professional Mortgage Women at the Everett Yacht Club was Richard Rose of the Federal Land Bank. He would explain the firm’s system and purpose, specifically its rural housing program.
