Members of the Civic Events Club were calling a meeting in an effort to bring about a civic museum. Many in town had noteworthy collections including Mrs. A.H. Wieland, 2209 Wetmore Ave., with a home full of dolls.
Columbia Chapter No. 23 and Everett Chapter No. 232, Order of the Eastern Star, was meeting for the official visit of the worthy grand matron, Grace M. Johnson. Those desiring a reservation for the preceding dinner could call Bea Hinchcliffe or Gladys McConnell.
Margaret Riddle and David Dilgard were the subject of Jim Casey’s Northwest Passage column. The two historians-in-residence at the Everett Public Library were delving into county lore and legend. The library’s collection of photos had grown tenfold to 6,000 since they joined the staff two years ago.
Snohomish County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Taylor, the department’s search and rescue coordinator, recently applied his knowledge of helicopter-borne rescue in the mountains to teach New York City police how to land on rooftops in dangerous situations. The city folks were amazed that our county owned a Huey helicopter.
