Amy Jo Blomberg was the unanimous choice of eight judges for the 1954 Evergreen State Fair queen. Blomberg was the first Everett girl to win the title. She was a senior at Everett High School.
The best showgirls of Flo Ziegfeld or Billy Rose couldn’t compare with the inimitable Rose Hill Rosebuds. They were to perform the coming weekend in Rose Hill PTA’s variety show. The Mukilteo darlings of the "Stage Door Johnies" were Mike Baker, Don Dodd, Jim Ross, Paul Kimball, George Arnold, Gordon Dudder, George Youngstrom and Jack Raymond.
Lowell residents and Everett Mayor Bill Moore broke a bottle of champagne to celebrate the installation of a traffic signal at 52nd Street and Broadway. Traffic engineer Ron Cameron said the city installed obsolete signals until it could purchase new lights.
Vicki Foltz marked her debut with the Everett Community College women’s track team by winning first place in the 5,000-meter run at the Pacific Lutheran University Invitational.
