The
Washington Public Service Commission ordered West Coast Telephone Co. to establish toll-free service between Everett and Marysville. Lloyd Wallgren, district manager of the company, said it probably wouldn’t go into effect until the latter part of 1955.
Bernice VanderWeken was the organist for the Easter morning sunrise service at Memorial Stadium. In case of rain, the alternate location was Civic Auditorium. The Cox Music Center was providing the organ, and carrier service was provided by Hogland Transfer.
Joe Kozlovski looked over the renovation he designed as city government moved back into City Hall. During the $2 million renovation, the old Roosevelt School was used for city offices. Kozlovski’s only worry was that the city might one day outgrow the remodeled facility.
An ad for the Everett School District levy included endorsements from Mayor Bill Moore; Earl Dutton, president of the Everett School Board; Kate Fanning, president of the Everett PTSA Council; Douglas Black, president of the Snohomish Labor Council; Grace Lundstedt, president of the Everett Education Association; and Don Rider, president of the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce.
