50 years ago (1964)
Dan Evans, Republican candidate for the GOP nomination for governor this fall, was coming to Everett. He would address a meeting at the Everett Public Library auditorium and all interested were invited to attend. Evans, 38, was a native of Seattle.
Among the 1,000 high school juniors in Snohomish and Island counties who attended the all-day conference at Everett Junior College with representatives from colleges in Washington and Oregon were Anne Ochampaugh and Karen Lindell, both of Arlington High, and Stephen Saunders of Snohomish High.
25 years ago (1989)
CARE Medical at 1301 Hewitt Ave. advertised that people could go places on their own with the Pacer. It had rugged outdoor construction and design and a comfortable shock-absorbing ride. Medicare and private insurance would reimburse.
At Sultan Chris Wright went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs to lead Sultan to a 7-3 win over Concrete, its third consecutive non-conference victory. Wright had a two-run double in the third. David Oldfield and Rowdy Turner each went 3-for-4 for the Turks. Turner pitched a complete game to earn the victory.
