The caretaker’s house at Evergreen Memorial Stadium has been completed. Under the direction of Chet Solie, Everett High School students Jerry Bertsch, Vernon Herschlip, John Crawford, James Mulder, Nick Petrosa, Dick Kolkana, David Hansen, Norm Willet, David Steinaker, Dick Almvig and Glen Willand built the rambler.
John Osborn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Osborn of 7031 Carson Road, was getting his "bug" ready for the big Soap Box Derby that The Herald, Junior Chamber of Commerce and Snohomish County Chevrolet dealers were staging on Hewitt Avenue in July. John’s racer was sponsored by Home Portrait Studio.
Everett city engineer Lloyd Henning announced his retirement. He was planning to take a job with a private engineering firm. Henning had held the position for 10 years.
Abbey Carpet at 2601 Colby Ave. and 20505 Highway 99 was having a spring carpet sale. The firm advertised that this was the time for carpet lovers to think about new carpets and the savings on the new styles and colors. Saxony plush sold for $8.88 a square yard while silky plush was $10.66.
