Two Everett Golf and Country Club teams would enter the upcoming American Bowling Congress tournament. It was the only golf club in the state to be represented. Bowlers included Ken Tucker, Roy Slingerland, Almer Skotdal, Gene Anderson, Joe Weber, Verne Jones, Everett Peterson, Jim Love, Phil Millard and Leo June.
A new Little League diamond was being built on vacant land between 47th and 48th streets, and Colby Avenue and what is now Rucker Avenue. It was being developed on Everett School District property by the Everett Local of the Firefighters Union and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Nina Moore was named assistant manager at the south Everett branch of Seattle-First National Bank. She joined the bank in 1952 as a proof clerk and most recently was assistant manager in Marysville.
Kathy Thorhaven was the new dress buyer for Chaffee’s women’s apparel at 2918 Colby Ave. For the previous 14 years, she had been buyer for the HUB department store in Coos Bay, Ore.
