Cub Scout Pack 2 of Jackson School had its Blue and Gold Dinner. Scouts who received awards were Jerry Staeheli, Brad Chapman, Jay Judy, Mike Reynolds, Rick Harvey, David Bjork, Jerry Wood, Bill Bowles, Russell Wells, Howard Bargreen, Vaughn Schalka, Larry Moormeier, Tom Wynne, Mike Debolt, Jeff Eveland, Gary Pegrium, Bob Marcy, John Christensen, Mickie O’Donnell, David Matthews, Carl Tillson, Robert Krogh and Tony McManus.
Wally Meyer, 6-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace V. Meyer of Lake Stevens, was chosen 1954 Easter Seal boy for the state.
Swapping books was an time-honored practice, and local book shops specialized in it. Rose Geddis, owner of the Book Nook here, said she checked the books carefully. Dan Beirnes at K &K Food Ranch had several thousand paperbacks.
Staff writer Ned Carrick wrote a review on the Wormwood Inn at the Mark-It Foods shopping center on Avenue D in Snohomish. Run by Deems Manson, it had an English pub decor with thick pile carpeting, warm colors, soft lighting and pleasing wall decorations. Steak, fish and pasta were on the menu.
