The Totem Drive-In restaurant at 4410 Rucker Ave. was redecorated and modernized with greater seating capacity and faster curb service. Well-wishers were Everett Sound Electric, Refrigeration Engineering Co., Holmstad Plumbing and Heating, Meadowmoor and Bargreen’s Coffee &Restaurant Equipment Co.
Virgil Purtteman was running the Mobil station at Second Street and Cedar Avenue in Snohomish. He was offering friendly service and a Mobil Oil special. The station also sold tires, batteries and accessories.
Errol “Buz” Olsen of Everett was named lieutenant governor of the Kiwanis Club’s 22nd District. Olsen joined the Everett Downtown Club in 1972. He was a member of the Silver Lake Club and the Everett Evergreen Club. Formerly he was an Everett policeman, a radio broadcaster and service station owner. He now was an auto salesman.
A portion of the Mountain Loop Highway closed by an earlier washout was now open, the U.S. Forest Service reported. The road was closed when a culvert failed one mile north of the Bedal Campground. A large number of vacation homes were cut off by the closure, but spokesman Joe Nodolski said there was no one in them at the time.
