After three years as commanding officer of Surface Division 13-11 of the Naval Reserve, Cmdr. R.I. Thieme turned over the command to Lt. Cmdr. J.H. Hammer of Arlington at the Naval Reserve Armory on the waterfront. Thieme, formerly of Everett, now was in Anacortes.
Hawthorne PTA was meeting in the school auditorium. The guest speaker was the Rev. F.H. Fahringer. A Christmas party with an exchange of small gifts was planned. Refreshments would be served by parents of the sixth-grade pupils.
Pioneer First Federal Savings named Margaret Juneau of Marysville as manager of its branch office in that city. She joined Pioneer in 1972 after working 10 years for a local mortgage company. She replaced Jon Erickson who was recently named branch office administrator. The bank was in the B&M shopping center.
Ralph Williams of Arlington was chosen as the top "listing and salesperson" in the United States among more than 60,000 sales people in the Century 21 franchise realty chain. He secured more than 270 exclusive listings during his first year and sold property valued at more than $3.25 million.
