Members of the Everett Kiwanis were planning an auction, with proceeds going to social welfare activities in the city. Planners were Roland Dick, R.A. Pierson, Herman Felder, Pete Almgren, Fred Kent, Harold Emery and Phil Blodgett.
To call attention to the United Nations, Everett High School history teacher Arthur Ramstad gathered a group of foreign-born students. They were Gail Konechy, Elaine Lattin, Andy Pringle, Gladys Stortro, Lois Stortro, Barbara Rowe and Charlene Lindill, Canada; Sig Petersen, Leonard Haugen and Bjorg Fagersand, Norway; Jeannette Bosman, Holland; Lisette Luy, Belgium; Nick Bitto, Romania; Jimmie Zourros, Greece; John Crawford, Australia; and Vince Martinis, Yugoslavia.
Greg Scheller, 16, a member of the Mukilteo Boys’ Club, was named regional boy of the year by the Northwest Area Council of Boys’ Clubs of America. He received a $500 education scholarship. The award was based on activities in church, school, community, family and the club.
Ninth-graders Jackie Ely and Scott Myklebust were named Lynnwood Lions teenagers of the month for September at Lynnwood Junior High School. Jackie was the daughter of Gil and Jo Ramos. Scott was the son of Norman and Marge Myklebust.
