One of the largest Christmas parties held in the area this season was that of Scott Paper at the Civic Auditorium. About 2,300 people participated in the program and presentation of gifts. Mary Hall, head nurse at the local plant, serving as Santa’s helper, passed a gift to Walter Cann. Cann had retired as a guard at the main gate two weeks ago.
The children of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Davis of Everett were to appear in the Roller Frolics of 1953 at the Skateland Roller Rink on California Street. They were Jimmy, Ronald and Dee Dee. Many Washington state champions were included in the coming roller show.
Marysville baritone Boyd Schlaefer, currently studying voice at the University of Southern California, was giving a recital in the First Baptist Church at 1616 Pacific Ave. Schlaefer was a graduate of Marysville High School and Washington State University.
Thirteen students were named citizen of the first quarter at Brier Junior High School. They were Allison Burley, Bill Dybing, Barbara Keith, Tricia Morehouse, Cara Sandahl, Andy Starkenburg, Clay Stockwell, Larry Francois, John Minea, Kim Stefanson, Marcy Cho, Kenny Johnson and Sarita Makhijani.
