The S.W. Hendricksons and Frank Newmans found their homes mere islands in a small sea of water caused when a culvert under East Berkshire Drive either clogged or was inadequate to handle the rain the previous two days.
Coach Jim Ennis presented letters to members of the 1953 Everett High School football team. Bill Randle and Ken Overvold were voted the inspirational awards by their teammates. Henry Newton received the scholarship award. Dick Hanson and Bill Linden were selected co-captains for next year’s team.
Two Everett Community College faculty members were granted tenure. They were photography instructor John Witter and counselor Julie Buchholz. Both deserved it, said board member J. Grahame Bell.
David Boulton, an eighth- grader at Arlington Middle School, built a model of the school his great-grandfather built. Guy Monty, Miker Davis and Marty Sedy built a model of a castle once owned by their great aunt. Seth Blaustein would give an introduction to Jewish holidays and religious symbols, while Ken Wesson explained trapping. It was all part of a federal project called REACH. Gary Howard was coordinator.
