Chunks of ice and snow clogged the Snohomish River near the Hewitt Avenue drawbridge. The sunny, crystal-clear skies did little but shed new light on damage from Washington’s continuing siege of bitterly cold weather. The Getchell and Fire Trail roads north of Marysville were closed because of ice on the steep grades.
The first of a series of public meetings about a long-range plan for dealing with the county’s garbage had been rescheduled after snow and ice made driving treacherous. It would be held in the Ginni Stevens Hearing Room on the first floor of the county Administration Building.
