"The Ten Commandments" could be observed in the Everett Public Library. It was a religious book and one of a number of new volumes available to library patrons.
The Mountain Loop Highway would be closed for a few days from Red Bridge to Silverton, county engineer Earl Barnwell said. The trouble spot was a sinkhole near the school district camp. The Bureau of Public Works would put new culverts in the area.
Arnold Zemple said the law had been his life, and he loved it. The 72-year-old judge was retiring from his seat on the Everett District Court bench. A judge for 17 years, and before that county prosecutor for eight years, his last day would be Dec. 29.
Two new hiking and horseback trails were created in Snohomish County — on paper. The official designation was made to ensure the state would make provisions for them while designing and building U.S. 2’s Snohomish bypass. One would follow the Highway 9 corridor, while the other would connect Snohomish and Three Lakes.
