Anyone who had ever tried to cross Everett Avenue at Wetmore Avenue knew that it took a lot of patience. Many had suggested in the Chamber of Commerce Improvement Survey that there should be a signal at the intersection.
The Star Chief, new to the Pontiac line, was on display at Simpson Pontiac. New Chevrolets and Studebakers could be viewed at Sevenich Motor Co. and Fowler Motors. Also along auto row on Rucker Avenue, Abe Pearson was winding up his third year in the used car business.
The Everett Community College basketball team had won five straight, including a 97-94 victory over Green River, in Northwest Community College action. Coach Wiley David attributed the success to the addition of Tony Barnes and rebounding by Wayne Washington.
Parkers Jewelry on Colby Avenue, which claimed to have the largest stock of watches in town, had sparkling Christmas buys on Seiko watches. The store also offered hand-cut crystal, diamond earrings, rings and pendants.
