Roy G. Rothman Court, Order of Amaranth, was serving its annual waffle breakfast at the home of Catherine Arndt, 2420 Chestnut St.
Gerald Kincaid was to be guest speaker at the Garfield Preschool meeting. He would discuss the teaching of handicapped children. Election of one of the officers would be held. All preschool and kindergarten mothers in the district were invited.
A sixth-grade teacher’s interest in space flight brought a sample of moon rocks to Everett. John Douthitt, a teacher at Explorer School, took an aerospace class at Central Washington University the previous summer. He applied for and received a special license to receive the rocks from NASA.
The Everett Youth Symphony was holding its first concert of the season in the Masonic Temple. Everett High School senior Loreen Petty was concert-mistress, with Cascade senior Mike Hoag as assistant. Pertti Patinen, a Finnish exchange student, was the cellist.
