Two new faculty members at Western Washington College of Education in Bellingham were graduates of Everett High School. August Radke, an instructor in history, was in the class of 1939 and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington. M.A. "Pat" Allan, an assistant professor of journalism, graduated in 1931 and had degrees from the UW and Western.
Molly Herley, Mary Flynn, Janice Hardison, Shirley Smith and Roger Shaffer, all of Everett, were welcomed to Seattle University by its president. They were among 650 freshmen out of a total 2,100 students.
Ken Countryman was to be installed as president of the new Golden K Kiwanis Club at a charter night dinner meeting at the Everett Senior Center. Other charter officers of the new club were Charles Brown, Paul Alley, Art Fossum, Bill Graham, Bill Hanson, Bill Dwyer, Neil Graham and Elmer Crippen.
Everett Police Capt. James Billesbach was among 250 police officers to complete an 11-week course at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. Billesbach was in charge of Everett’s special investigations division.
