The Western Washington Fair in Puyallup was celebrating its 50th anniversary, and with the observance came the recollection that Clare Dobler of Chaffee’s in Everett was the winner of the first baby contest at the fair.
Four Everett women attended the convention of the Associated Health Councils in Seattle. They were state president Edna Paulson, Martha Muckey, Lillian Peterson and Pernie Brannon. The Everett report made a good impression, as association officers made many references to the accomplishments of the city and its cooperating organizations.
La Salle d’Ecole, Everett Community College’s gourmet luncheon restaurant, was reopening in October. Also, season subscriptions at the College Playhouse were available. The college was opening its fall quarter with a film series.
The Bon was having an anniversary sale in the downtown Everett store and at the Everett Mall store. Four five-piece sets of Nitto stoneware sold for $79.99, bookcase units were $199 and fur throw rugs were $35.99.
