The Associated Women Students of Everett Junior College held its first social event of the year, a tea in the student lounge. Among those present were Nancy Hewett, president; Betty Hovde, vice president; Delores Eastman, treasurer; Marie Ross, sponsor; Maribeth Mitchell, science instructor; and Fred Giles, college president.
Everything was going smoothly in the Marysville School District at the start of the new school year. The new superintendent was Dwight Newell. Robert Bates was the high school principal, and Richard Strang was principal of Lincoln Grade School.
The seventh annual Snohomish Tour of Homes was taking place over the weekend. On the tour were the Marks house, now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Thomle; the Iverson house, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Linert; the Dolsen house, owned by Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Knieriem; the Arthur Blackman house, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderberg; the Hyrcancus Blackman house, which was now the museum; and the Marks Building, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Don Kuslerand.
Mary Woodbury and Ann Haaseth donned 1890 vintage clothes as part of Gold Bar’s Nugget Festival. The Stevens Pass Highway community was celebrating its rich gold rush past.
