The director of women’s physical education at Everett Junior College, Dolly Holland, was elected treasurer of the Washington Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
Rad Russell, superintendent of the Everett Pulp &Paper Division of the Simpson Logging Co., presented a turkey to Otto Wrosch. Standing by were assistant general manager D.F. McCall and Eunice Kraft. Mill employees were presented turkeys by management.
Rep. Lloyd Meeds, D-Everett, who was leaving Congress after seven terms, had mixed feelings. Meeds planned to return here but wasn’t certain what he would do. He was considering practicing law. He remembered the first campaign as the most exciting and said it was hard to keep up that spirit throughout successive bids for office.
Citizens for Fair School Funding, the grassroots citizen’s group that helped rearrange the school funding system in Washington, was having a public meeting at Trinity Episcopal Church. Anne Carlson chaired the group. Shirley Vandermeer, a member of the Everett School Board, was local coordinator.
