50 years ago (1963)
Awards of Excellence for participation in vehicle safety checks were presented to Janice Burke of Cascade High School and Dave Swanson of Everett High School. Walter Lunsford made the presentations.
A huge bulldozer chewed into historic wooden buildings in Alderwood Manor that once housed Alderwood Drugs and Lee’s Café to provide a parking lot for a new drugstore. Herman Wickers, who owned another Alderwood landmark next door, said, “They’re not going to do that to my building ?” (They didn’t. Today it is part of Alderwood Manor Heritage Park.)
25 years ago (1988)
Ankle &Foot Clinic of Everett, with Dr. Jeffrey C. Christensen, was open at 3802 Colby Ave. Christensen was certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and had practiced in the Everett area for three years. The clinic provided ankle and foot care, including sports medicine and surgery.
Unexpected heavy rains in the western Cascades unleashed a sudden torrent of water down area rivers yesterday, but the worst was over. One of the communities worst hit by flooding was Sultan, where fire department members had to carry Jacob and Allen Root to safety.
