50 years ago (1964)
Bill Klein turned over the keys of 1964 Ford to A.B. Colburn, Cascade High School principal. The car would be used for Cascade’s driver training classes. Pinky Erickson would do the classroom work, while Jerry Wester and Ernest Foster of the Evergreen Junior High staff would do the road training.
Fletcher Oil Co. was building a loading dock for heating oils at 37th and Smith streets, planning to move from its present location on the Broadway Cutoff. Fletcher was a California corporation with several locations in the Northwest.
25 years ago (1989)
Jarrett Voyvodich, 10, and Kent Stickler, had found a safe place to sled on Scotts Parks’ property in Arlington. The snow and cold weather had drawn hundreds to slopes in the Puget Sound area. High winds were expected in the Cascade foothills today, adding to the weather woes caused by frigid temperatures that tumbled to the zero mark this morning in parts of the county. But temperatures were expected to rise above freezing tomorrow.
