Red Cross Learn to Swim classes were in full swing at City Beach on Silver Lake. Betty Hall, one of the instructors, worked with beginners with the barest rudiments of the water sport, while instructor Susan Walsh worked with a group on diving.
The Rev. Thomas R. Howard, Mission Church, Marysville, was cited as one of Everett’s better drivers in a week-long search for good drivers. The Rev. Howard was pulled over by Officer Mike Lewis after being followed two or three miles.
25 years ago (1988)
When the NASCAR Motorcraft 500 started today for the fourth straight year at Evergreen Speedway, area auto racing fans could thank the efforts of a hard-driven county family. Bob, Mickey and John Beadle combined diverse backgrounds, but strong family ties and sound business instincts, to elevate racing at the Monroe facility to what it was.
The Darrington bluegrass and Country Music Festival was a down-home good time. Now in the 12th year, the festival was a showcase for some of the Pacific Northwest’s top bluegrass music performers. It was hoping to draw 12,000 to the four-day event this year.
