50 years ago (1963)
Scott Morrow and Merry Lee Martin were looking forward to interesting sessions at First Presbyterian Church’s Vacation Bible School next month. An interesting program of music, crafts, study and recreation for pre-schoolers through teenagers.
Washington State Patrol trooper Robert Landon of Marysville was promoted to sergeant, Patrol Chief Roy A. Betlach announced. Officer Landon had served as safety education officer for the State Patrol detachment at Everett. He was one of a dozen officers promoted as a result of recent competitive examinations.
25 years ago (1988)
GTE Northwest cable splicer Curt Larson was working with some of the 1,800 phone wires that were severed by a road construction crew on 112th Street in Silver Lake. An estimated 10,000 customer were isolated by the mishap meaning those with 337 and 338 prefixes couldn’t make or received calls outside the Silver Lake area.
Allison Bigsby performed a “bicycle kick” under the watchful eye of Eddie Henderson, a staff member with the South Seattle Soccer Camp being conducted at Everett Community College. Henderson was also a member of the U.S. Youth World Cup team and the University of Washington soccer team.
