50 years ago (1963)
Contract for construction of a new office for Snohomish Title Company was let to Venne Beauchamp. Construction was to begin at once on the building designed by Hall and Dykeman on the southeast corner of Pacific and Colby avenues. Elmer H. Husby was president of the title company.
One of the big problems of picking strawberries was getting down the reach the plants. To alleviate this the county now had three strawberry machines where pickers lay down while picking with the machine moving. One was in operation at the Mike Biringer farm north of Maysville near the Quilceda Fill.
25 years ago (1988)
The red, white and blue star-spangled float from Grandview Homes was all about pride, according to Sharon Hoerr a resident of the northeast Everett neighborhood. Children and adults from the area recently completed the float for the city’s Fourth of July parade.
Campers found a soggy solution for the weekend along the Mountain Loop Highway. The rain didn’t deter Wendell and Barbara Miller of Everett from camping at Gold Basin, nor John and Teri Hilty of Everett and Donnie and Wes Postle of Bothell from staying at Turlo.
