50 years ago (1963)
“Women in Medicine was to be the subject discussed by Dr. Lucy Mason of Everett before the Rotary Club tomorrow at the Elks Home. Mason had been associated with the Everett Clinic for several years as a general practitioner.
Tri-Way Grange’s Visitation last week brought out more than 130 grangers. Florence Bice spoke on legislative matters, Louise Nordstrom led in singing and Lillian Peterson gave a reading. Others on the program were Betty King, Fay Eliott, Al Unger, Helen Anderson, Lois Crocker, John Spada, Pat Paulson and Loyal Smoke.
25 years ago (1988)
Margie Norden, fifth-grade teacher at Cedar Valley Elementary in Lynnwood, was named the state’s 1988 teacher of the year. Student Ian Fiambures said he liked her sense of humor. Claudia Lopez said her teacher had different ways of making children learn things correctly and made them understand why they had to do it.
Rebecca A. Kettwig, Snohomish High School’s senior class valedictorian and an active Future Farmer of America member, was awarded $2,000 by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. She also was student body president and president of the Snohomish FFA chapter and district secretary.
