50 years ago (1963)
Two high school seniors were invited by Yale University to continue their search for a higher education next fall. They were Brian C. Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Moore, 1314 Lombard Ave., and Allen Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Johnson, Rt. 1.
Servers at the annual dinner of the Monroe Swiss colony at Swiss Hall included Helen Weishaupt, Mary Steffen and Jeannie Marty. They were dressed in the costumes of the old country.
25 years ago (1988)
The combined vocational carpentry class from Everett and Cascade high schools was looking for a building project for the 1988-89 school year. The class was seeking a project that would assist them in developing marketable building trades skills. The project would be under the supervision of instructor Jim Drake.
At Everett, Doug Kentfield pitched a five-hitter in the first game and had two hits in the second game against Shorewood. He also struck out eight in seven innings of the second game.
