Gloating with glee, Everett Street Superintendent Parker Gallaspy supervised sweeping of the intersection of Hewitt and Colby avenues at “High Noon” yesterday by Mayor George Gebert in keeping with a Rose Bowl bet. Finance Commissioner Mildred Simpson assisted with a dust pan.
Police Sgt. Mike Lewis explained the manual operation of a new traffic signal at Beverly Boulevard and Madison Street to Roosevelt School Safety Patrol Captains Doug Love and Larry Miller. The signal was similar to one on Rucker Avenue at 35th Street.

Frontier Bank announced the following promotions: John Herber to senior vice president, administration; Ken McMinn to assistant vice president, main office; P.J. Ryan to assistant vice president, operations; Mike Willard to manager information services, data services; John Dickson to assistant cashier, financial control; Greg Starup to loan manager, downtown Everett office.
Dan Haumbarger, 12, of Everett, auditioned for the role of the Wicked Witch in the Missoula Children’s Theater production of the Wizard of Oz. Two actors from the theater auditioned children in the Civic Auditorium for the Everett performance.
