50 years ago (1963)
Don Feeney joined Walter T. Higgins Insurance Co., at 1723 Hewitt Ave., after 10 years with Aetna Casualty Co. in Seattle and Los Angeles. A graduate of the University of Washington, Feeney was married and had three children.
Jack and June Miller had leased the Islander Café in Clinton and would reopen it next month as Little Jack’s Foods. Jack Miller was a former chef at the Sea Horse in Mukilteo. He would also display of his prize-winning pen an dink drawings.
25 years ago (1988)
Dixi Sims was having beginning and advanced serger sewing seminars Wednesday at Viking Sewing &Vacuums, 1001 N. Broadway, Suite B-2. The beginners’ class included tips on finishing off seams, ribbing, inside corners and tearing out the easy way.
The alertness of an 11-year-old Woodway-area boy may have saved at least one life last December. Robert Hornick received a Safety of Merit award from the PUD for noticing sparking electrical wires during a storm. Lineman Dan Sullivan congratulated Robert for his actions in contacting PUD.
