50 years ago (1963)
Plans were underway by members of the Snohomish Lapidary Club for their annual gem and mineral show to be held March 30 and 31 in the Snohomish Masonic Temple, Sixth Street and Avenue C. The free show would feature outstanding rock and gem collections from throughout the Puget Sound region. Show chair was Lester Holbrook, assisted by club president Rudy Tschernich Jr.
Cheryl Lynn Wallin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arland C. Wallin, 2006 96th Place SE, was a year old today. Grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wallin of Everett, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Carlson of Seattle.
25 years ago (1988)
Marysville was pondering replacing its 19-year-old traffic plan. At the same time, it was considering cutting parking. Fourth Street and State Avenue soon would be the junction of two state highways connecting all of north Snohomish County.
Tubby Miller was the all-events bowling champion in the Sky Valley women’s Association tournament at Woods Creek Lanes in Monroe and Kla-Ha-Ya Lanes in Snohomish. She totaled 2,016 pins. Other winners were Barb Shutz, Gloria Josey, Arietta Loucks, Fran Bueler, Leann Anglin, Georgetta Bach and Jo Darwood.
