50 years ago (1963)
Youth from South Everett Presbyterian Mission had found a different way to make some money. They were chopping up trees knocked down on the freeway right-of-way near Eastmont. Among them were Jim Taylor, Randy Austin, Joy Woll, Robert Johnson, Daryl Greenahlgh, Linda Greenhalgh, Linda Thorp, Joe Ridderbresch and Ge0rge Ridderbresch.
Dedication services for the new Assembly of God Church at Second and Stillaguamish streets in Arlington were being held this weekend, according to the Rev. V.C. Rientjes, pastor. The church dated back to 1927 in Arlington.
25 years ago (1988)
Several Class II gymnasts from Leading Edge Gymnastics Academy in Everett participated in the Holiday Classic at the Seattle Gymnastics Academy. Among them were Darcy Malphrus, Solveig Petersen, Allsion Lessley, Sheree Waltz, Michelle White and Heather Anderson.
The next piece in the evolution of sprawling Highway 99 could be a comprehensive long range business plan that set standards ranging from traffic to landscaping in a four-jurisdiction area, according to Edmonds officials. Mayor Larry Naughten said there was no community on Highway 99; it needed a single vision.
