50 years ago (1964)
Three county men were new members of the Washington National Guard. They were Malcomb Lower, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lower, and Bill Enger, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Enger, all of Everett, and Richard Boblett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Boblett, of Arlington.
Little Miss Phelps slept soundly in her mother’s arms, unconcerned that she was the first baby born in the new Stevens Memorial Hospital. The proud parents were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Phelps.
25 years ago (1989)
Frank Anderson, a former Everett firefighter turned jeweler, became one of the first candidates for one of the three City Council positions up for grabs this year. An Everett native, Anderson said he was running because he was concerned about growth in the Everett area. He was active in community service organizations.
This morning’s snowfall failed to keep Maxine Rais from running up Kromer Avenue on Everett’s Rucker Hill. The strongest high pressure system in North American history was responsible for the Alaskan freeze that was expanding into the Northwest. Temperatures were expected to drop into the teens.
