50 years ago (1964)
A bid call for construction of the new county courthouse addition, approved by voters last week, might be issued next week, said Sam Kraetz, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. The initial phase would be replacing the annex now housing Superior Court No. 4.
The Spaghetti Flip, Marysville High’s annual spaghetti feed, was coming up soon. Making plans were co-chairs Trudy Sanner and Delores Jacobsen, along with Wendy Bowan, Jack Hammond, Jeanne Lindell and Nancy Weeks.
25 years ago (1989)
While flood waters of the Stillaguamish spilled through the valley near Silvana, Steve Curbow and Nancy Martin let the season’s first flood become a simple diversion as they watched from higher ground. Martin said it wasn’t nearly as bad as 1975 when a military helicopter was called in to evacuate residents.
Salmon dinner, cake and entertainment was a thank-you with style. The city of Edmonds was on the receiving end of the thank-you dinner from the South Snohomish County Senior Center. The gratitude was expressed for the city’s 25 years of support, said Russell Berg, center director.
