50 years ago (1964)
Even the snow on the ground didn’t keep Ricky and Scott Johnson from making with the shovels in groundbreaking ceremonies for the new clubhouse for the Boys Club at 12th Street and Rainier Avenue, as Lew Smith, director, looked on.
Five musical members of the Staswick family were to present an Advent program at Central Lutheran Church Women’s Advent party. Taking part in the program were Paul, Brent, Norm, Linda and Carol. They were the children of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Staswick, Rt. 2, Everett.
25 years ago (1989)
Carl Grow unloaded Christmas trees from a truck at Grow and Son’s Lumber on Highway 99 in south Everett as his sister, Cindy Warring, cut bindings. It was the first day of the first selling season for the company, which normally specialized in cedar lumber products.
Even with baby Kendra Lynn in tow, Laura Pierce still was able to help Jason Cahoon, 7, perfect the snap on his front kick as Mike Seevers held the target. Pierce was working on her husband’s taekwondo school on Broadway. Jack Pierce was preparing to take 12 students to fall nationals in Chicago.
