50 years ago (1964)
Mary Anne Nelson, president of Cascade Amateur Radio Club, and Sam Manus, Everett postmaster, looked over a sheet of the new stamp issued today honoring the ham team operators of America for their work on Civil Defense and assistance during disasters and routine aid to thousands of Americans.
Jessica Beam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Beam, 3606 Lombard Ave., had three new books to read. The Longfellow School sixth-grader was winner of the Young Hobby Club’s candy scramble contest. Other local winners were Nora Clark, Juanita Lawson, Barbara Wheeler, Jeff Brown, Veanie Gregg, Janet Gay and Debra Johnson.
25 years ago (1989)
Patricia Jeannette Long and John Michael Sontra were wed on Oct. 28 at First Baptist Church of Everett. She was a graduate of Western Washington University and worked at Seattle Pacific University. He was a pharmacist, having graduated from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy.
Congratulations went to Jun Mendoza of the Everett office who was Century 21 North Homes Realty’s salesperson of the month. The firm also had offices in Snohomish, Monroe, Lynnwood and Mill Creek.
