50 years ago (1964)
Dortha Kalesza, newly elected co-captain of Cedarcrest Golf Club’s women’s unit, led the first division with a 74 in monthly medal play yesterday. Lois Crain, the other new co-captain, was second with a 75.
Professional wrestling with six beefy participants was scheduled for the Snohomish High School gym, sponsored by the Snohomish Junior Chamber of Commerce. Wrestlers were The Hangman, Gen Higuchi, Jan Paul, Haru Sasaki, Donald McDonald and Luther Lindsey. Referee was to be Pago Pago.
25 years ago (1989)
Kathy Isaacson of Marysville was honored recently at a banquet sponsored by the Washington Association of Education Office Personnel for receiving certification by the National Association of Education Office Personnel. She had been employed by the Marysville School District for the past 20 years.
Kevin Osborn played movie baddie Freddie Krueger as he scared guests at the Marysville March of Dimes haunted house. Some youngsters screamed, but came back for more. Others bolted for the nearest exit. Two girls were so freaked by the chainsaw-wielding maniac, they bulldozed their own way out through plasterboard.
