50 years ago (1964)
Orin Imbs, principal of Silver Lake School, was succeeded this evening as president of Everett Administrative Unit of Washington Education Association, by Bob Ludwick, Evergreen Junior High School principal, at their meeting tonight. Jerry Kincaid spoke on his two years in Europe.
Charlotte Bailey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Bailey of Lake Stevens, was just home after spending two years with the Peace Corps in the Philippines. A graduate of Lake Stevens High School, Everett Junior College and the University of Washington, she taught English to college freshmen at the Cebu Normal School in Cebu City, the country’s second largest.
25 years ago (1989)
Speed control measures in the Marysville neighborhood of Oakwood seemed to have abated a problem with speeders. City Public Works Director Dave Zabell said stop signs did little to deter speeding, so speed bumps were installed. Resident Connie Catlett said people were slowing down.
Trick or Treat in Lake Stevens by Mitchell’s and the Wilton Company. In two evenings people could learn how to make their own gingerbread Halloween houses. There was another class where folks could learn how to make Halloween candy.
