50 years ago (1964)
Mary Secor, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Secor, 1632 Rainier Avenue, was off to Germany where she would stay for two years with her brother and sister-in-law Capt. and Mrs. Ernest R. Secor, near Frankfurt. She would attend college in Germany and be a receptionist at an officers’ club at a U.S. Army base.
Colby Avenue in front of Everett High School was now closed to all but emergency traffic during school hours. Large barricades blocked both ends of the block. Traffic was routed to Hoyt and Wetmore avenues.
25 years ago (1989)
John Dyer of Everett took his time cleaning every nook and cranny under the hood of his 1978 Trans Am. Fair fall days could hold up a little while longer — time for one last polish — as the sun broke through today and the temperatures hovered in the high 60s. The same nice stuff was expected tomorrow after morning fog.
The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce welcomed the following new members: Edmonds Mercantile, Profiles Ten Four, Custom Dressmaking by Deborah, Lady Di’s Wig Service, Boehms of Edmonds, Purple Turtle Books, Ittner Portraits and Cameo Bedding.
