Longtime readers of “Seems Like Yesterday” have made their point.
As editor of The Herald, I recognize that the depth of their connection to this local history feature is something that cannot be measured simply in raw numbers.
I heard from a number of people who enjoyed picking up our newspaper every day to see whether they would spot the names of classmates, neighbors, relatives — or even their own names — in Jack O’Donnell’s news items from 25 and 50 years ago.
And so, I am happy to admit the mistake — and happy to announce that the feature will return to The Herald soon.
O’Donnell has informed us that he will take some time off for the remainder of August, but he looks forward to resuming “Seems Like Yesterday” on Sept. 1.
Readers can look for it in a new location. It will run along with “Today in History,” by the Associated Press, on the Time Out pages, Monday through Saturday, and inside the Good Life section on Sunday.
