ABERDEEN — The Federal Emergency Management Agency will check school buildings in Aberdeen and Walla Walla for their ability to withstand earthquakes.
KXRO reports FEMA chose the two districts for a pilot program for a statewide seismic survey of schools.
The Aberdeen School Board was told at its Tuesday night meeting that the district will be able to apply for FEMA grants to address problems discovered in the stability tests. Work is expected to begin in June.
