EVERETT — An early morning crash in Everett involving a semi-truck and 100 gallons of leaked fuel sent the driver to the hospital and made for a long work commute.
The truck was heading north on I-5 when it went off the roadway near 41st Street. It was around 1 a.m. The semi took out a guardrail and fell down an embankment, said trooper Heather Axtman with the Washington State Patrol. Gallons of fuel spilled during the crash.
The driver had minor injuries, Axtman said.
The two right lanes on the interstate were closed while crews cleaned up the spill and recovered the truck.
“Due to the instability of the embankment, they have to pull it back up on the roadway,” Axtman said. “That’s what’s taking so long.”
The lanes remained closed as of 9:45 a.m. The entrance to northbound I-5 at 41st Street also was closed. Axtman suggested drivers take Broadway to avoid the mess.
