EVERETT With the election days away, Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell and Republican challenger Mike McGavick plan to visit the area this weekend.
On Saturday, McGavick will join supporters at the Flying Pig restaurant from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The restaurant is at 2929 Colby Ave. in Everett
This will be McGavick’s final scheduled event in Snohomish County this campaign.

Also Saturday, Cantwell will join Democratic candidates at a rally at Everett Community College. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the senator will be addressing supporters at about 1:30 p.m. in the college’s multipurpose room.
On Sunday, the senator will assist her mother, Rose Cantwell, in serving brunch for seniors at the Edmonds Conference Center. Doors open at 10:45 a.m. in the |center at 201 Fourth Ave. N. in Edmonds.

Sheriff’s candidate to address GOP women
EVERETT Tom Greene, a candidate for Snohomish County sheriff in 2007, will speak to the Snohomish County Republican Women’s Club on Nov 9.
The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill, 122 128th St. SE, in Everett.
Greene, a senior official in the sheriff’s department, will speak at noon. He is campaigning to succeed Sheriff Rick Bart who has announced his intention to challenge County Executive Aaron Reardon next year.
