Serial robber may have hit bank in Monroe

MONROE – A man who robbed a Wells Fargo bank here Wednesday may be the same robber who has held up banks in King County.

Just before 3 p.m., the man handed a teller a note stating he had a gun and wanted money. He picked up the cash and ran from the bank. A police dog tried to track the suspect but lost the scent after a short time.

FBI agents advised Monroe investigators that the man’s description matched that of a man who has robbed five banks in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond and Renton, Monroe police commander Jan O’Neil said.

He is described as a white man with an olive complexion, about 45 to 50 years old and speaks with an European accent. He was wearing glasses and a brown bomber jacket.

Wells Fargo Bank is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Monroe police tip line at 360-863-4600.

A meeting is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday about a registered sex offender moving into the city April 19.

The level 2 juvenile offender is expected to live in the 800 block of Ford Avenue. Details about the offender will be discussed at the meeting, and police will provide additional resources and educational materials.

The meeting will be in the Emerson Elementary School gym, 1103 Pine St.

For more information, call 360-568-0888.

Abdul-Rahim Aubed Al-Rikabi, 46, a former cabdriver, was convicted of indecent liberties and indecent exposure in Snohomish County Superior Court in 2003. His victims were people he picked up in his cab, according to the Everett Police Department.

Anyone with questions may call the state Corrections Department at 425-290-3200.
