ARLINGTON — A young child was ejected from a car that crashed Thursday afternoon on I-5, leading to the shutdown of both directions of the freeway in north Snohomish County.
At least one car rolled over while southbound around 12:50 p.m., north of the exit to 236th Street NE near Arlington, according to the Washington State Patrol. The car came to a rest well off of the road.
A medical helicopter landed at the scene to take the child to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, state troopers said. An ambulance was taking the driver to a local hospital.
Both the child and the adult were in stable condition but had serious injuries, according to the State Patrol.
Meanwhile, both directions of traffic were shut down for a stretch of about 2 miles. Northbound cars were starting to get through again at around 1:20 p.m.
