LYNNWOOD — Seven people were displaced after a fire damaged a garage and home here Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters tried to contain the flames to the garage and were mostly successful at sparing the home in the 1200 block of 147th Place SW, spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. But the floor of the living space above the garage was “spongy” and suspected of having damage that compromised their structural integrity, she said.
There were no injuries, and nobody was home at the time of the fire around 3:45 p.m. Smoke billowing from the home in unincorporated Lynnwood was visible to approaching firefighters from a mile away, Hynes said.
Three adults and four children were being aided by Red Cross.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
