SEQUIM — A 35-year-old sex offender wanted for weeks is in jail after leading police on a chase through the Sequim area over the weekend.
The sheriff’s office says Kenneth Scott Johnson was arrested Saturday on Highway 101 near Discovery Bay.
He was booked into Clallam County Jail on investigation of robbery, eluding police, auto theft and failing to register as a sex offender.
The sheriff’s office says the pursuit began early Saturday when police pulled over a vehicle with Johnson in it. When police ordered the driver out of the car, Johnson drove away.
Police say Johnson later stopped behind a Miata at an intersection, pulled a rifle on that driver and took off in the Miata.
A Port Angeles police officer used a vehicle maneuver to stop Johnson.
