SPOKANE — Police say a released sex offender is a suspect in the slaying of a woman in Spokane.
Police said Thursday investigators have searched a car and apartment used by Derrick Ross Vargas, 24. He has not been charged in the death of Evon Moore, 48, whose body was found Aug. 13.
Vargas was arrested Sept. 23 for investigation of rape in a separate case and is held in the Spokane County Jail.
KXLY reports he was released from prison Aug. 2 after serving nearly four years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman and girl on the Colville Indian Reservation.
