LYNNWOOD — On the edge of Martha Lake, families and friends will come together next week to reflect on lives lost to violence.
They will have the opportunity to share their memories and honor homicide victims. The public is invited.
The event is being sponsored by the nonprofit Families and Friends of Violent Crime Victims. The ceremony is planned in concert with the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.
The annual event is held to honor the memories of those taken by violence and focus on the impact that murder has on families and communities, said Catherine Hix, the lead advocate for the Everett-based agency.
Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Roe is slated to be the guest speaker.
Survivors will have the opportunity to share their stories. They are encouraged to bring photographs, poems and mementos.
There will be short remembrance walk.
The event is planned for Sept. 29 at 16300 E. Shore Dr., Lynnwood.
Coffee and light refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
