KIHEI, Hawaii — A 54-year-old man was attacked by a shark this morning while surfing off Maui.
Maui County spokeswoman Mahina Martin said the unidentified man was bitten in the upper right thigh and lower right ankle off Kalama Beach Park.
He was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center. His condition wasn’t immediately available.
Martin said a 6- to 8-foot sand shark is believed to have carried out the attack.
